Winter Kings
Catching improves in Area 8.2 over the weekend. With very nice weather there were lots of boats out fishing and some of them caught fish on Saturday and Sunday. Port of Everett and Camano Island ramps both had better checks than the past few weeks.
We caught a couple keeper salmon at Columbia Beech and had another couple chances on good hook ups at the South side of Hat Island, but failed to land either one of them.
Best lure has been a 4 inch tomic 603 plug trolled by it self or a green and white Coho Killer spoon 40 inches behind a green hot spot, fishing within 20 feet of bottom in 90 to 130 feet of water.
Here are the Hotplug Derby Results from last weekend:
1st Place - Ron Lampers 16.1 Lbs - Winnings $2133.00
2nd Place – Greg Lindell 16.1 Lbs – Winnings $948.00
3rd Place – Rick Wahlbreak 15.7 Lbs – Winnings $711.00
4th Place – Greg Koeje 13.14 Lbs – Winnings $474.00
23 Fish Weighed In
79 People were Entered in the derby

Freindly-Fun-Fishing-Trip
Sometimes it’s about the things that matter in life, like friends having a good time together or building new friendships. The fishing wasn't spectacular, although we did manage to catch two keepers and release a 12lb Native, plus a couple shakers; the real value was the great time we all had.
Boat Show time Seminars I will be conducting Salmon Fishing in Central Puget Sound Friday January 29 3:00 PM Wednesday February 3 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM Thursday February 4 3:00 PM Friday February 5 6:00 PM Saturday February 6 12:00 PM

Possession Bar Opens
The crown jewel of Puget Sound
No this is not some local watering hole where people go to get drunk, although I have seen an occasional person there who had too much to drink.
The Possession Bar I am referring to is one of the most popular and productive fishing spots in central Puget Sound.
Possession Bar off the south end of Whidbey Island is a natural sand bar that congregates bait fish like herring and candle fish, which are two of the favorite food sources for salmon, especially winter King salmon (Blackmouth).
Find the bait and most likely you will find Winter King Salmon.
Possession Bar located in Area 9 opens for Salmon fishing January 16
